Self-Guided Choir Hour Rhythm Dictation

Leaving high school choir sub plans can be a daunting task. Especially Emergency music sub plans! This FREE resource contains a Sub Plan Letter template, Teacher's Guide, and Student Google Form. This sub plan is ideal for 1:1 classrooms. Simply leave the Sub Letter and the link for the Student Google Form!

Each “Self-Guided Choir Hour” is intended as an individual, student-paced activity. Students will need their own personal device, whether it is a laptop, Chromebook, iPad, or phone. Headphones may be desired, as there are several listening examples.

Each lesson contains one Google Form with the following questions prompts:

  • Note Names and Value

  • Rhythm Counting

  • Rhythm Dictation

  • Solfege Identification

  • Music History Reading Passage and Response

  • Listening Journal

These Google Forms are ideal to leave for a Substitute Teacher or as an emergency Sub Plan. Classroom technology and a music-specific substitute are not necessary. The lessons may also be used for a non-rehearsal day, rehearsal make-up, or homework.

Each Google Form is pre-formatted for 50 points and includes an answer key. All of the forms are self-grading, however short answer and essay answers may require teacher input.

All lessons are editable to enable YOU to customize and fit the needs of your students. An editable Sub Letter template is also included for your convenience.
